4th Quarter - What is Left
Prospective, Contrast and Texture, Reflection, Tilt-Shift
1)I've been trying hard to make it to a out of school photo shoot with you, but due to other commitments I have not been able to come. I would love to be able to come to a photo shoot and I know thats more my problem then it is yours, but I would like to do more out of classroom activities.
2) I can improve the class through my photos in the 4th quarter instead of focusing on taking neat looking pictures I want now my photos to have meaning that can inspire.
3)The class so far has expanded my view on photography, I've always liked it, but now I cant leave the house unless my camera is with me. The class has pushed me to pursue my intreats and gave me a medium to show my work

Photographer Report
1) Yousuf Karsh
2)1908-2002
3)Yousuf Karsh grew up through the Armenian Genocide, he saw many of his relatives die. His parents sent him to Quebec, Canada to live with his uncle and keep him safe from the genocide. In Canada Yousuf assisted in his uncle's studio were his future as a photographer was born. Karsh's uncle saw great potential in his nephew and arranged a internship with portrait photographer John Garo. After the internship Karsh returned to Canada and created his own studio in Ottawa, Ontario. Here the Prime Minister of Canada, Mackenzie King took notice of Karsh and hired him to take photos of him. This attracted many celebrities to Karsh including Winston Churchill, creating Karsh's fame.
4)Yousuf Karsh is best known for his portrait photography and his best know work was his image of Winston Churchill which was claimed to be the most reproduced photo of any individual today. The concept for Yousuf is to capture to not only the person but the mood and emotion. For example when Yousuf photographed Churchill, before the photo was taken Churchill took out a cigar and begin to indulge in it, Yousuf held out a ashtray but Churchill refused. Eventually Yousuf walked over to Churchill said "Excuse me, sir" and snatched the cigar out of his mouth and took the photo at that moment capturing Churchill in as less then favorable mood. Yousulf, for his generation pushed the limits on portrait photography.
5)The most difficult project i have done so far was portrait photography giving me a great respect for Yousulf's talent and skill. Everything was perfect, the lighting, the setting, the person, and the picture. His portraits did everything i wanted my photos and he was using a film camera. I find Yousulf's work outstanding, epically for his generation. He does a great job of capturing the mood and emotion as well as the person.

Depth Of Field
"I grew up wanting to be a musician, but my parents were sure I would starve to death. So, they put me in physics and chemistry. That eventually blew up, and I got into radio. "
-John Tesh
This is a compare and contrast of chemistry and beauty. Chemistry in theory is a beautiful thing which explains how the world we live in works. Chemistry in practice is a painfully dull thing, which is full of diagrams, figures, paperwork and lewis dot drawings. Chemistry could easily be one of the hardest subjects loaded on to a students shoulders why question why it works, but rather that it does work. There is beauty in chemistry, but you need to take a step back a view the depth of field in chemistry.

small+better+herseys+tilt.jpg

This is a strong photograph because of the vivid colors that make the tilt-shift process extremely successful, also the candy logos play into a real model-isque feel.

I feel like i need to take a shower after looking at this picture, which is why its such a strong urban decay photo.

This is a strong photo because of the detail that is captured. Normally flowers are viewed at a quick glance but this photo truly makes us stop to smell the roses.
